London Stansted Airport (STN) is located in Stansted Mountfitchet, in Essex. It is around 68 kilometers northeast of Central London.
There are several attractions and places that you can visit near STN. You can get some retail therapy at Harvey Centre, which is located in Harlow, the large town nearest to STN. You may also visit the Museum of Harlow for a glimpse of prehistoric times.
If you have enough time to spare before your next flight, you may head out to Central London, which will take approximately one hour and 15 minutes to travel by car. Here you can visit iconic landmarks such as the Big Ben Tower, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, and many more. STN has one main terminal which has the check-in desks and three satellite terminals where the gates are located. Satellites 1 and 2 are connected to the Main Terminal via Automated People Mover (APM) while Satellite 3 is accessible by walking.
While you are here, you can enjoy a meal from STN’s selection of restaurants and snack kiosks. You may also check out the shops for last-minute gifts or hang out in the lounge with your favorite book and beverage.
STN has an official lounge called the Escape Lounge. From the name itself, it offers an escape from the busyness of the main airport at a reasonable price. Lounge-users are entitled to complimentary snacks and drinks with free Wi-Fi, scanning, printing, charging, and reading materials.
Escape Lounge is located at the main departure area, past the security checks. It usually opens from 4:00 AM until 8:00 PM daily.

Keeping children entertained while at the airport can be challenging, but this is manageable if you are in STN. You can find WHSmith before the security checks which has a wide selection of things that your kids will love. The shop has games, comics, books, sweets, and treats that can keep your kids entertained during the flight.
You may also entertain your kids with plane watching, an activity that most kids love. STN’s free Wi-Fi can come in handy as well, if you are willing to let your kids use gadgets.
There are several ATMs or cash machines at STN. There are four ATMs in the Domestic Arrivals area, two in the International arrivals, and another four in the International Arrivals level.
