About the Area
Formerly known as Abbotsinch Airport, Glasgow Airport is located in Paisley, Renfrewshire, west of the Glasgow city center.
Paisley is the largest town in Scotland and rose to prominence in the 12th century when Paisley Abbey was established. It evolved into a center for the weaving industry in the 19th century and lent its name to the Paisley pattern and Paisley shawl.
All of the weaving mills have been closed since 1993 although they are memorialized in the town’s museums and civic history. Other attractions worthy of note are the Blackhall Manor, Dooslan Stane, High Street drill hall, and Thomas Coats Memorial Baptist Church.

Glasgow Airport is owned by AGS Airports Limited which is jointly held by AGS Ventures Airports Limited, an entity managed by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (Europe) Limited and Ferrovial (via Faero UK Limited).
The airport has 30 airlines serving over 100 destinations worldwide, including the US, Canada, Europe, the Caribbean, and the Gulf. The airport also transports around 13,000 tonnes of air cargo per year. It has established itself as Scotland’s largest charter hub and principal long-haul airport.
There are two lounges that boast fresh, relaxing modern comforts. Ideal for business or leisure, passengers can enjoy stunning views of the runway while planes take off. Free WiFi and complimentary snacks and drinks are available for passengers to amuse themselves before their flight.
There are 5 restaurants with a selection of dietary menus available throughout the day within the airport. You can find them both before and after security. For allergens and other or dietary requirements, servers at the restaurant will be happy to assist you.
Glasgow Airport is a non-smoking airport. There is a designated smoking area located outside the main terminal on each end of the central reservation.
Water fountains are strategically placed across the airport premises. There are water fountains next to the toilets at the Caledonia Bar in the departures lounge, opposite to the Fat Face. There’s another one at JR Tennant’s Bar at Gate 29. Additional stations are also available at gates 4-5, gate 19, and gate 26.
The Upperdeck Lounge offers light snacks and nibbles along with coffee, tea, soft drinks, and alcoholic drinks. Cereal, pastries, bacon and omelet rolls are available for breakfast. Prosecco or champagne is also available at an additional cost.
A la carte breakfast, lunch and dining options highlighting Scottish produce are freshly prepared by local chefs in the Lomond Lounge. There’s also a self-service barista area where guests can help themselves to coffee or tea. A wide range of craft and premium bottled beers, top-quality spirits, special cocktails, and award-winning wines including prosecco are at the bar.
Are there car rental facilities?
There are nine car hire partners located outside the main terminal close to the domestic arrivals section or alternatively just beside terminal 2. All car rental companies offer a range of vehicle sizes, from small compact cars and family-sized saloons to larger SUVs.
