About the Area

St. John’s International Airport is situated in the northern limits of St. John’s, Newfoundland, and Canada’s youngest province, Labrador. It serves the Avalon Peninsula and St. John’s metropolitan area. The airport is operated by St. John’s International Airport Authority and it is part of the National Airports System.

About St. John’s Airport

St. John’s International Airport (YYT) is owned and operated by St. John’s International Airport Authority. The airspace surrounding the airport, meanwhile, is operated by NAV CANADA.

Canada’s civil air navigation service (ANS) is owned and operated by NAV CANADA. There are 18 million square kilometers of Canadian and oceanic airspace managed by NAV CANADA. They are the world’s second-largest air navigation service by traffic volume with 40,000 customers and 12 million aircraft movements annually.

The airport is served by five major airlines and has approximately 80 arriving and departing flights to and from 21 destinations in Canada, Europe, and the US on a daily basis.

There are 2 bank machines located in the terminal building. One is situated on the first floor in the atrium area near the escalator, while the other is located in the Departures Lounge across from Gate 9.

Keep the children entertained at the airport’s play areas located in the Departures Lounge (by Gates 10 and 11). The other play area is located on the first floor outside the food court.

If you lost the item on the plane, you may contact your airline directly. If you lost it in the terminal building, you may visit the Lost and Found department located on the main floor. It is behind the elevator and to the left in the Security Operations Center.

Are there car rental facilities?

St. John’s International Airport has six car rental providers on-site to assist you with your transportation needs. It is recommended that you contact the car rental companies directly in advance to ensure availability. The airport’s car rental desk is located at the Main Terminal at the baggage claim area.
